Discussion Session – Life After Death

Dear ULUBUDA members

We are very honoured to be able to once again invite Mr. Axxu Hoi, a distinguished external speaker, to conduct a discussion session on this coming Monday (7th March 2011).

The discussion session is themed
“Life After Death” with Axxu Hoi

If there is one thing we can be certain of in life, it’s that eventually we will face death. Throughout the world, death may be celebrated, embraced, or even feared. This discussion aims to help us gain an understanding of the Buddha’s teachings on Life After Death.

The activity will be in the form of an interactive discussion, which includes short videos screening. Light refreshments will be served.

Axxu Hoi is a Buddhist practitioner with years of experience.

Axxu is currently:

Meditation Session with Ajahn Sangthong

Dear ULUBUDA members

This coming Monday we will again be conducting a

MEDITATION SESSION with Ajahn Sangthong

Ajahn has been with ULUBUDA for many years. He is a Thai Buddhist monk, currently residing in the UK (Buddhapadipa Temple in Wimbledon). He is a very nice and simple teacher who is always open to your questions on meditation or the Dhamma (Buddha’s teachings) in general. He has kindly agreed to continue guiding us through our sessions this year.

For those who have not attended any of our sessions, it’s never too late! You do not need to have any experience in meditation to try it out. Feel free to come at any time that’s convenient for you.

If you would like to just learn more about meditation, Ajahn is an experienced teacher who can and will gladly answer any queries.

Dhamma talk by Ven Ajahn Khemadhammo

Dear ULUBUDA members,
The Imperial College Buddhist Society (ICBS) has organised a Dhamma talk by Venerable Ajahn Khemadhammo as detailed below.  Please feel free to attend the talk if you are able to make it.
WIth Metta
ULUBUDA exco 2010/11

Dear all,

You are sincerely invited to the dhamma talk session organised by ICBS this coming Thursday, 7pm. We are extremely honoured to be able to invite Venerable Ajahn Khemadhammo Luangpor (OBE) to talk about Rights and Responsibilities in a Buddhist’s context. Over the past few years, Ajahn has been visiting Imperial College annually to meet us and to share his insights from his vast knowledge and experience in Buddhism.

Please note that we’re holding the event in Huxley LT308 instead of the Chaplaincy, because of the larger size of audience expected. Usherers will be around on that day to lead you to the venue.

This event is a public event for both members and non-members. No RSVP is required, so feel free to invite your friends to the talk too. Light refreshments will be served.

Venerable Ajahn Khemadhammo is a hugely respected Theravada Buddhist monk. He was born in England in 1944. After becoming an ordained monk in Thailand, in 1977 he returned to the U.K. and set up a small monastery on the Isle of Wight. In 1984, at the invitation of a group of Buddhist meditators that he had been visiting monthly for some years, he moved to Banner Hill near Kenilworth and formed the Buddha-Dhamma Fellowship. In 1985, he moved to his current residence, the Forest Hermitage, a property in Warwickshire.

Ajahn Khemadhammo began Buddhist prison chaplaincy work in 1977. In 1985, with the help of others, Angulimala, the Buddhist Prison Chaplaincy, was launched with him as its Spiritual Director.

Ajahn Khemadhammo was appointed an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, June 2003 for ‘services to prisoners’. In December 2004, on the birthday of the King of Thailand, he was made a Chao Khun with the ecclesiastical title of Phra Bhavanavitayt; he was only the second foreign-born monk to receive such an honour.

We look forward to seeing all of you there!

With metta.
Kangyu Lim
ICBS Vice President

The activity will be in the form of an interactive discussion, which includes a short video screening and hymn singing. Light refreshments will be served.

We are honoured to be able to invite Axxu Hoi, a Buddhist practitioner with years of experience, to lead this discussion session.
